Maria Mekri

Thematic Lead in Peace and Security at UNTIL Finland

Maria Mekri is a peace and security expert. In her current role as the Thematic Lead for Peace and Security at the United Nations Technological Innovation Lab (UNTIL) Finland, Maria is responsible for innovation in conflict prevention and peace technologies. Previously, Maria was the Executive Director of SaferGlobe and the Conceptual Framework Manager of the IECEU (Improving the Effectiveness of Capabilities in EU Conflict Prevention) -project. She has an extensive background in business, project management, and consultancy.

Maria holds a BA Hons in Politics and Fine Arts from Brandeis University, an MPhil in International Relations from Cambridge University and a Master’s Degree in International Business Management from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. She has also been trained in crisis management, peace mediation, and peace negotiation.
